Naoshima (直島町, Naoshima-chō)

Standing on the terrace of the Chichu Art Museum, looking out upon the piercingly sharp yet alluring headland, I was surrounded by over a century of captured photographs, documenting years past of the same view, tiling the short brick railed walls of this alfresco space. I found myself almost in desperate need to capture my own interpretation of the landscape whilst standing, so I stood for what felt like hours, to burn an image so fiercely. One I would never forget to paint, to recreate once home on canvas.

This piece captures a kaleidoscopic view of where land meets sea on the 8th April 2018.
